My Favourite Books

When people ask me what’s  my favourite book (once it came up in a job interview)…I feel a blank coming on. There are so many! So here are the ones I remember that had some special impact on me and that I recommend to most people:

All time favourites

1. Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell

2. Lord of the Rings (Fellowship of the Ring most of all) by J.R.R. Tolkien

3. His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman

4. The L-Shaped Room by Lynne Reid Banks

5. Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden

My favourite heavy-going reads:

1. An Evil Cradling by Brian Keenan

2. A Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood

3. Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov

4. Not Unkind and Not Untrue by Ed O’Loughlin

My favourite escapist reads:

1. Cross stitch by Diana Gabaldon

2. The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

3. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

4. Wizard’s First Rule by Terry Goodkind

5. Swept by Torre DeRoche

Feel free to recommend me something that springs to mind 🙂
